Full generation vs. assisted drafting
This is the real philosophical split. BookNova's pitch is "your novel, written by the world's best AI, ready in minutes": you supply a premise and it produces plot, dialogue, character arcs, and full chapters through what it calls a Story Thread Engine for continuity. Two things changed recently in how a draft comes together. First, structure: you define a whole-book Story Skeleton (logline, theme, arc, and where it's heading) and plan each chapter's beats, then Generate Draft from Outline walks the chapter map in order and drafts every chapter you've beated out in a single pass, each one anchored to the spine, your world bible, and the previous chapter's ending. Second, control: the Variables Engine lets you drop any character, location, or lore entry into a Story Rule or a reusable Instruction by name, with {{#if}} conditional logic so a rule only fires when it's actually relevant to the scene. BookNova plots and writes the whole novel for you from a premise; this is the opposite bet, structure and variables you steer, drafting the parts you've actually planned.
